Chile's imports reach $109.3 billion in 2022, up 14.8% from $95.2 billion in 2021.

The latest country-specific data show that Chilean imports are mainly supplied by exporters from the United States (35.6% of Chile's total), mainland China (7.5%), Brazil (5.2%), Argentina (5.1%), Germany (4%), Japan (2.8%), Mexico (2.7%), Colombia (2.2%), Spain (2.2%), Peru ( 1.8%), South Korea (1.7%) and Italy (1.3%).
Chile's Top 10 Imports
1. Mineral fuels including oil: $28.3 billion (25.9% of total imports)
2. Vehicles: US$12.1 billion (11%)
3. Machinery, including computers: $10.7 billion (9.8%)
4. Motors, equipment: $8.6 billion (7.9%)
5. Plastics, plastic products: $3.4 billion (3.1%)
6. Inorganic chemicals: $2.4 billion (2.2%)
7. Pharmaceuticals: $2.33 billion (2.1%)
8. Iron and steel: $2.25 billion (2.1%)
9. Meat: $2.1 billion (1.9%)
10. Knitted or crocheted clothing, accessories: $1.9 billion (1.8%)
Chile's top 10 imports accounted for more than two-thirds (67.8%) of its total product purchases from other countries.
Among the top ten import categories, imports of inorganic chemicals show the strongest growth, increasing by 87.6% from 2021 to 2022. The second fastest growing category is imported fossil fuels, including petroleum (up 61 percent), followed by knitted or crocheted clothing and accessories (up 37.1 percent), and then vehicles (up 23.9 percent).
Among the top decliners, Chile experienced double-digit declines in imports of electrical machinery and equipment (down -12.4% from 2021) and meat (down -11.9%).
Note that the results listed above are at the 2-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code level.
At the more detailed 4-digit HTS code level, Chile's most expensive imports are processed petroleum (13.9% of the South American country's total import bill), crude oil (5.1%), automobiles (4.6%), liquefied petroleum gas (3.9%), trucks (3.5%), coal (including solid fuels made from coal) (2.8%), and telephone equipment (including smartphones) (2.4%), computers (1.4%), dose mixing drugs (1.2%), and then electric motors or generators (1.2%).
Exports
In 2022, Chile exported $102.6 billion worth of products to the world. Compared to $92.9 billion in 2021, Chile's exports increased by 10.5% year-on-year.
Chile's most valuable exports are copper ores and concentrates and refined and unrefined copper.

Chile's top 10 export commodities account for 83.8% of its total global exports.
Inorganic chemicals: the fastest growing of the top 10 export categories, growing 334.5% from 2021 to 2022. Ranking second in terms of improved export sales is fish, with a 28.5% increase. Chile's exports of fruits and nuts grew the third fastest, up 23.9 percent year-over-year.
Of Chile's top 10 export categories, the largest decline was in ores, slag and ash, down -13.2%.
