The latest country-specific data show that Tanzania's exports are mainly purchased by importers from India (17.3% of Tanzania's global total), South Africa (13.6%), the United Arab Emirates (11.2%), Kenya (5.6%), Switzerland (5.3%), Mainland China (4.3%), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (4.1%), Uganda ( 3.9%), Rwanda (3.8%), Burundi (3.1%), Singapore (2.7%) and Belgium (2.6%).

Tanzania's top 10 export categories accounted for 75.1% of its total global shipments.
Fossil fuels, including oil, are the fastest growing of the top 10 export categories, growing by 273.8% from 2021 to 2022. The second largest improvement in export sales was in ores, slag and ash, which grew by 73.7%. This product category was driven by increased international sales of copper ores and concentrates. Tanzania's exports of fruits and nuts grew the third fastest in terms of value, increasing by 44.3 percent.
The biggest fall in Tanzania's top ten export categories was vegetables, down -31.4% year-on-year.
At the more granular four-digit HS code level, Tanzania's most valuable export was unwrought gold (41.5% of Tanzania's total exports), followed by cashews or Brazil nuts and coconuts (3.4%), copper ores and concentrates (2.8%) , dried shelled vegetables (2.7%), rice (2.7%), coffee (2.7%), unprocessed tobacco and tobacco waste ( 2.6%), coal, including solid fuels made from coal (2.3%), oilseeds (2.2%), and maize (1.3%).
