Uganda imports for 2022 was $10.24B, a 2.57% decline from 2021.

According to the latest Tendata iTrader data, Uganda's imports of products are mainly purchased from exporters in the following countries:

Export

In 2022, Uganda exported $2.22 billion worth of exports to the rest of the world. Compared to $3.97 billion in 2021, Uganda's exports declined by -44.1%.



Uganda's top 10 export products

1. coffee, spices: $864.3 million (39% of total exports)

2. Gems, precious metals: $307.5 million (13.9%)

3. Fish: $139.4 million (6.3%)

4. Dairy products, eggs, honey: $102.5 million (4.6%)

5. Live trees, plants, cut flowers: $78.3 million (3.5%)

6. Pharmaceuticals: $63.1 million (2.8%)

7. Timber: $58.9 million (2.7%)

8. Oilseeds: US$52.1 million (2.4%)

9. Cocoa: $50.4 million (2.3%)

10.Sugar, confectionery: $49.2 million (2.2%)


Pharmaceuticals are the fastest growing of Uganda's top 10 export categories in 2022, up 65.6% since 2021. The second highest growth in Uganda's export sales was in timber exports, which increased by 38.7 percent. Uganda had the third highest increase in international fish shipments, up 20% year-on-year.


The largest decline in Uganda's top ten export categories was Gems and Precious Metals, which declined by -70.3% from 2021. The main reason for the decline in this product category was a drop in Uganda's gold transportation revenues.


Looking at the finer HSN codes, coffee is Uganda's highest value export, accounting for 35.8% of the country's total exports. In second place was unwrought gold (13.8%), followed by fish and fish fillets (3.1%), dried, salted or smoked fish of all kinds (2.3%), cocoa nibs (also 2.3%), unenriched and unsweetened milk (2.2%), sugar (also 2.2%), blood constituents including antisera (2%), vanillin (2%), and then live plants of all kinds (also 2%).

According to the latest Tendata iTrader data, Uganda's exports were mostly purchased by importers in the United Arab Emirates (26.8% of Uganda's total exports), Kenya (13.3%), South Sudan (12.2) percent), Democratic Republic of Congo (8.6 percent), Italy (5.3 percent), Germany (3.3 percent), Tanzania (2.7 percent), Netherlands (2.6 percent), Belgium (2.2 percent), India (2.1 percent), United States of America (1.9 percent), and Burundi (1.8 percent).
