In 2023, global toothpaste exports reached a total value of US$4.33 billion.
This figure reflects a 3.9% average increase over a five-year period starting in 2019, when global toothpaste exports amounted to $4.16 billion. On a year-to-year basis, the value of toothpaste exports in 2023 rose by 1.5%, up from $4.26 billion in 2022.
The top five exporters of toothpaste globally were China, Poland, Germany, Thailand, and Slovakia, together accounting for 44.3% of all toothpaste exports in 2023.
By region, European suppliers dominated the market, generating $2.37 billion, or 54.8%, of the total toothpaste export value in 2023. Asia ranked second with 27.3% of the global total, followed by North America at 12.1%. Smaller shares came from Latin America (3.8%, excluding Mexico), Africa (1.6%), and Oceania (0.5%), led by Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
For categorization purposes, toothpaste is classified under the 6-digit Harmonized Tariff System code 330610, which includes dentifrices used by dental practitioners.

Conversely, countries that experienced a decline in toothpaste export sales included Ireland (down 26.2%), the United Kingdom (down 5.2%), and the United States (down 4.6%).
