In 2023, worldwide hat exports and sales of similar headgear totaled an impressive US$14.1 billion. This figure represents a significant increase of 40.3% compared to five years earlier in 2019, when hat exports were valued at $10 billion. However, year-over-year, the overall value of hat exports saw a slight decline of -5.3% from $14.8 billion in 2022.
The top three countries leading hat exports globally are mainland China, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. These three nations collectively accounted for nearly three-fifths (57.1%) of total international hat exports in 2023.

Hats serve a variety of purposes including protection from the weather, religious practices, ceremonial events like graduations, safety, status symbols, and fashion accessories.
