In 2023, global sales of grapes export from all exporting nations reached a total of US$9.3 billion.
This figure represents a 9% increase in export value compared to five years earlier, in 2019, when fresh grape shipments were valued at $8.5 billion. However, when compared to the previous year, the value of worldwide grape exports experienced a decline of -3.8%, down from $9.64 billion in 2022.
The leading exporters of grapes are Peru, the Netherlands, Italy, mainland China, and Chile. Together, these five countries accounted for over half (55.9%) of the total expenditures on fresh grapes in international markets during 2023.
From a regional perspective, Latin American exporters (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean) topped the list with $2.74 billion in grapes export, representing 29.6% of global exports. Europe followed closely with 27.2%, while Asia contributed 18.7%. North America and Africa were responsible for 10.1% and 10% of global grape sales, respectively. Oceania, primarily Australia and New Zealand, accounted for 4.3% of the exports.

These 15 nations together contributed to 93.1% of the total fresh grapes export for the year.
Among the top exporting countries, the fastest-growing markets for fresh grapes since 2022 included Mexico (up 186.5%), Brazil (up 70.8%), Peru (up 29.5%), and the Netherlands (up 22%). Conversely, several major exporters experienced declines: Chile saw a significant drop of -53.2%, followed by South Africa (-21.7%), Türkiye (-21.1%), and Spain (-16.3%).
