In 2023, global exports of computer devices reached a total of US$408.1 billion.
This represents a 14.9% increase in the value of computer device exports compared to the US$355.3 billion recorded in 2019. However, on a year-over-year basis, the global export value of computer devices saw a decrease of -6.9%, down from $438.3 billion in 2022.
The top five exporters of computer devices in 2023 were mainland China, Taiwan, the United States, Mexico, and Hong Kong. Together, these nations accounted for more than two-thirds (67.3%) of the global market, underscoring the dominance of a concentrated group of suppliers in the industry.
From a regional perspective, Asia led the charge in global computer device exports, with countries in the region shipping goods valued at $266.3 billion, or roughly 65.2% of the global total. Europe followed, accounting for 19.3% of international sales, while North American suppliers contributed 15.1%. Smaller percentages of exports came from Oceania (0.18%), Latin America (0.11%, excluding Mexico), and Africa (0.08%).
For classification purposes, computer devices are identified under the four-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code 8471, which covers automatic data-processing machines, including magnetic and optical readers.

1. Mainland China: US$149.9 billion (36.7% of global computer device exports)
2. Taiwan: $39 billion (9.6%)
3. United States: $30.6 billion (7.5%)
4. Mexico: $29.4 billion (7.2%)
5. Hong Kong: $26 billion (6.4%)
6. Vietnam: $19.1 billion (4.7%)
7. Netherlands: $16 billion (3.9%)
8. Germany: $15 billion (3.7%)
9. Czech Republic: $12.1 billion (3%)
10. Thailand: $10.2 billion (2.5%)
11. Singapore: $9.8 billion (2.4%)
12. Poland: $6.7 billion (1.6%)
13. Malaysia: $6.4 billion (1.6%)
14. Hungary: $4.7 billion (1.2%)
15. United Kingdom: $4.2 billion (1%)
Together, these 15 countries were responsible for 92.9% of all computer device exports in 2023.
Among these leading exporters, the countries that experienced the most notable growth since 2022 were Vietnam, with an impressive 192.3% increase, Taiwan (up 156.2%), the Netherlands (up 19.6%), and the United States (up 7%). Conversely, the countries that saw declines in their export sales included Mexico (down -31.6%), mainland China (down -20.2%), Thailand (down -20.2%), Malaysia (down -16.1%), and Poland (down -15.3%).
