For a long time, a notable characteristic of Argentina Exports has been the reliable ripening of grapes in the sunshine, facilitated by the elevated pergolas known as "parral" and the irrigation channels built in the 19th century, which were filled with melted Andean snow, resulting in high yields. Since the late 1980s, efforts have been made to plant grapevines in cooler regions, extending the ripening process. Careful training on trellises ensures the highest quality fruit.

Argentina's advantage lies in the diverse grape varieties planted in its vast vineyards, thanks to waves of immigrants from Italy, Spain, and France. Varieties such as Tempranillo, Syrah, Pinot Gris/Grigio, and Tocai Friulano can yield high-quality wines with proper cultivation. Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Barbera, and Nebbiolo are also eagerly awaiting exploration.

The main wine-producing region in Argentina Exports, Mendoza, is situated near the Andes Mountains. Mendoza is a vast and extremely diverse region, and elevation is crucial for achieving high-quality wines in such proximity to the equator. Some of the top producers, like Catena and Terrazas de los Andes (a subsidiary of Moët & Chandon), specify precise vineyard altitudes on their labels. Higher vineyards experience cooler nights, beneficial for acidity and color, and altitude has a significant impact on precise wine flavors. Investors from around the world have secured land on suitable slopes, particularly in Tupungato in Valle de Uco and parts of La Consulta, planting vineyards at elevations reaching 1,600 meters. While Dr. Nicolas Catena's stable brand and name (now Catena Zapata) shine in Argentina Exports, other reliable producers include Achaval-Ferrer, O Fournier, Viña Cobos (manufactured by California's Paul Hobbs), Poesia, Mendel, and Trapiche.

The second most important wine-producing region, to the north of Mendoza, is San Juan. It is hotter and generally more suitable for Argentina's rough grape varieties, Criolla and Cereza. These pink grape skins are used for concentrated grape juice and dark, often slightly sweet, white wines sold at the lowest prices, typically packaged in cardboard boxes. However, some producers are actively developing the cooler regions of San Juan, showcasing the special potential of Syrah. To the south of Mendoza, in the romantically named Patagonia on the Negro River, is another promising grape-growing region. The climate here is much cooler, resulting in more elegant wines. Companies like Humberto Canale and its French-trained winemakers (not uncommon in Argentina) and Noemia demonstrate the achievements possible in this region.

The only other region of significant interest to Argentina Exports markets is the high-altitude vineyards surrounding Cafayate in the Salta province, the northernmost part of the country. The local grape specialty here is Torrontes, which can produce delicious, aromatic dry white wines—a category that most wine enthusiasts would certainly not want to miss from Argentina Exports. The world's highest vineyards are located in Salta, in the northern part, with Donald Hess's Colomé Estate boasting some vineyards at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters (9,800 feet).
