In 2023, the global export of goat meat from all nations amounted to approximately $380 million.
This figure marks a decline of 1.7% compared to five years ago in 2019, when goat meat exports were valued at $386.7 million.
When looking at the year-on-year change, the value of goat meat exports saw an 8.7% decrease from $416.3 million in 2022.
The top five exporters of goat meat are Australia, Kenya, Ethiopia, France, and Spain. Together, these key suppliers accounted for 90.6% of all goat meat exports worldwide in 2023, highlighting a highly concentrated market for goat meat exports.
From a continental perspective, Oceania was responsible for nearly half (44.4%) of the total goat meat exports in 2023, with shipments valued at $168.6 million, primarily driven by Australia and New Zealand. Africa followed closely, contributing 38.1% of global exports, while Europe supplied 15.2% of the total goat meat shipped worldwide.
Smaller shares of exports came from Asia (2.2%), North America, specifically the United States (0.1%), and Latin America (0.01%), excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean.

· Italy: $1.9 million (0.5%)
· Belgium: $1.6 million (0.4%)

Collectively, these 15 nations represented 99.3% of all goat meat exports in 2023.
Among these top exporters, the most rapidly growing were Belgium (up 109.7%), Kenya (up 69.3%), Portugal (up 37.5%), and the Netherlands (up 27.8%).
Conversely, those countries that experienced a decline in goat meat exports included mainland China (down 65.8% from 2022), New Zealand (down 62.8%), Italy (down 50.7%), Ethiopia (down 31.3%), and Greece (down 22.1%).
